This 198,000 SF Type I-FR retail complex in downtown Redwood City contains 74,000 SF of ground floor retail, a second level 20-Plex Century Cinema Theater, and two levels of underground parking.
The project encompasses an entire city block and is located prominently across the street from City Hall. The retail architecture draws on many existing design characteristics of downtown Redwood City and creates a pedestrian oriented urban experience that brings new textures & details to the historic downtown.
Jaiya Alamia took over as Job Captain for the project team during the design development. She helped figure out the building shell details, coordinated the construction documents, and stayed with the project through construction administration.
During construction, Jaiya assisted the project manager with the day to day work of issuing bulletins and clarifications, reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, attending meetings, coordinating with consultants, and developing signage criteria for the retail complex.
I had the pleasure of working closely with Jaiya for 5 years at Field Paoli Architects. She is a skillful leader, equally organized and thorough, plus an excellent communicator with clients, consultants, and her team. Jaiya always rises to new challenges and seeks opportunities for growth both professionally and personally.
